Dean Estrella

Dean Estrella was born in Calgary, Alberta and raised by his immigrant parents. He has traveled and backpacked through 30+ countries which led him to his career in social work and adult education for under-represented groups. Navigating life through his own intersections of diversity has shaped his passion for social justice and inclusion. 

Dean has previously worked as a Diversity & Inclusion trainer across Calgary and surrounding areas (before it was trendy to use the term equity). Additionally, he had led initiatives for the 2SLGBTQ+ community with a grassroots organization. 

Currently, he works as a programming director at a non-profit organization, board member for a learning collaborative, and contributes to the Diversity, Equity, Belonging & Inclusion (DEBI) Circle at work which is continuously challenging and rewarding. On the weekends, Dean is out and about with his partner, two dogs, and rambunctious toddler.
